Amazing Slovenia – wild and beautiful!!!

Slovenia is located in Central Europe that lies in the eastern Alps at the northern end of the Adriatic Sea, with Austria to the north, Italy to the southwest, Hungary to the northeast and Croatia to the south. Despite its small size, Slovenia has a surprising variety of terrain, ranging from north where the Julian Alps lie,  to the beaches of  the Mediterranean sea in south.
This means there is no time to get bored 🙂

Why you should visit it?

Because of its jaw-dropping beauty.
From the soaring peaks of the Julian Alps and the subterranean magic of Postojna and Škocjan Caves and Predjama Castle, to sparkling emerald-green lakes and rivers and the short but sweet Adriatic coast, Slovenia has it all. An incredible mixture of climates brings warm Mediterranean breezes up to the foothills of the Alps, where it can snow even in summer. And with more than half of its total surface covered in forest, Slovenia really is one of the greenest countries in the world.

Near Ljubljana you can visit also Predjama Castle.

The castle perched up in the middle of a vertical cliff above the cave and its underground tunnels used to offer a refuge to a number of inhabitants, including the famous knight Erazem of Predjama. Nowadays, the castle is featured among the Guinness World Records as the largest cave castle in the world.

Under Predjama Castle lies down a network of cave passages that have almost 14 km in length.

In the very heart of Slovenia lies the old yet vibrant city of Ljubljana. With its Austrian and Italian architecture the city waits to be discovered and loved by its visitors.

The capital is friendly, fun and young. You feel comfortable from the beginning as the level of spoken English is very high when compared to most European countries. Many people you come into contact with as a tourist will speak English, and may have some functional knowledge of German, in particular in Eastern Slovenia, and of Italian in the coastal region where Italian is a co-official language.

They are very dog friendly, most of the places are equipped  with water bowls. We really enjoyed the restaurants and coffee shops around the city.  Also you can find in the city center lots of places where you can try local beer and cheese.

The next stop was Ljubljana Castle,  a key landmark of the town. The number of visitors so far in 2018 was 464104. Impressive, right?

Bled

The next stop, and our favorite was Bled Lake and Bled Castle.
You must visit the alpine resort of Bled and its romantic lake.
You can row a boat on the most beautiful lake you’ve ever seen – Lake Bled is so beautiful that you’ll swear it’s been Photoshopped. You can rent a rowboat from the township of Bled and slowly make your way out to Bled Church in the center of the lake, where for a small fee you can ring the church bell ( is considerate an sign of luck).

Perched atop a steep cliff rising 130 meters above the glacial Lake Bled is a symbol of Bled and Slovenia – Bled Castle. The image of the castle forming a dramatic backdrop to the romantic island and the church on it has earned the resort worldwide recognition through the centuries. The entrance fee is 11,00 Euro per person and free entry for dogs.
